Thank You for sharing these photos on your web site, I moved to Florida 16 months ago and the thing that I miss the most is the Skyline of the "City Of Pittsburgh" and of course Primante Brothers sandwich.
Thank you very much!

Your pics are beautiful. You do not realize how beautiful the city is until you are gone. If you ever get a chance some Penguin pics would be cool. That would be really great since now talk of them moving! (say it isn't so)
Thanks for sharing, I have your website bookmarked and check it often.

You have done it again.. Captured Pittsburgh at her finest. I will treasure these forever and my husband and I are preparing to go to Asheville, NC to look for jobs. That is the only thing Pittsburgh does not have to offer right now. My husband lost his job after 32 + years when the company closed. He is 58 and can't find a job around here. He did HVAC in the Beaver County area for most of those years and the businesses he contacted have his resume on hold because they are all slow right now. The unemployment ran out at the end of November so we are in a bind. Our only alternative is to move. I hate to leave but we have to go where there is work....Our hearts will still be here...

I enjoy the Pittsburgh Skyline pictures very much.
I live in San Diego now and when I get home sick I check out your web site
and use one of your pictures as my wall paper on my computer.
I am looking forward to seeing some pictures with snow!

beautiful city. Keep on sharing.

Great pictures of Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. I'm living in Indianapolis and it doesn't compare to the lights and people of Pittsburgh. Since leaving the University of Pittsburgh in 1988, I also like the pictures of Pitt. Thank you for sharing these pictures.

Absolutely beautiful. I always knew that our skyline was as good or better than any other city in the US. As our slogan said you have a friend in Pennsylvania. Come and see for yourself

I now live 2160 miles away in Boise, ID and I can always go to this site and be right back home in Pittsburgh. If I won the lottery I'd be on the first plane back. Thank you for showing all of us transplanted Pixburghers our home town.

What great shots of my hometown. Been away a long time working for the U. S.Navy in Italy, but I'm always proud to say I'm from the "Burgh" when folks ask me where I'm from!

i want to thank you for bringing the memories of Pittsburgh back to me. Although there have been many changes, most of it is still the way I remember it. I left in 1968 at age 35 and after many moves, i settled in georgia. But, I really never left because I took Pittsburgh with me in my heart.

Like many of us born, raised and still living here in Pittsburgh, I'm extremely proud to tell anyone and everyone that I'm from the " Burg ". The shot from Mt. Washington is the first place I take visitors. It always amazes them how beautiful Pittsburgh really is, and I'm always amazed at how lucky I am to call it my home. Thanks for sharing.

After viewing all the pictures and reviewing all the comments from people that have left the area, I now know why I can not wait to go back to visit at least three times a year. I always make at least one Steeler game! South Carolina is beautiful but I miss Pittsburgh also.

In 1943 you couldn't even see downtown from 'Mahnt Washington.' All of the steel mills were going full blast and we were having blackouts at least twice a week. That's where Pgh. earned it's nickname of a 'dirty city.' Doesn't look like it now.

One of our Dormont High School Classmates from mmm years ago ;-) sent us these beautiful pictures. I still have family there but haven't lived there since college. Your pictures really capture the strength of Pittsburgh alonw with the many chances & glances to see beauty all around you!
I have a suggestion - is it possible to do a series of photos of Phipps Conservatory?? I keep telling my family about Phipps but I'm afraid words just don't do it justice! Of course, it's possible that they might not allow it, but given your artistic abilities, they just might agree!! Thank you again. Sal

What great shots of a great city! Born and raised in the "burg" and still refer to it as home even though we have been away about 30 years.Thinking of moving back, since employment is no longer a priority. It was the reason we left in the first place. Our hearts will always be there.

We have retired to the beach, and loving it, but home is home, and Pittsburgh is IT forever. Re-read "The Women of Troy Hill" a must read for Pittsburghers. Shows what heart the people of the city have. Absolutely beautiful photos! Matt Robinson is immensley talented! Bio, please?

Beuteful pictures of Pittsburgh!! I find the city wonderful and I have the most wonderful friend there which makes the city even more beuteful. I love the time time I spent there over New Year (1st night), in the frost, snow and cold. And I love the time I have spent there in the summer, when it is warm and wonderful, walking around and haveing coffie outside. And I am looking forward to come again!

Only been to PGH twice. Once in the sixties for an Army vs Pitt football game and again in the seventies for a college graduation. Poured both times but after seeing these pics I'm looking forward to another visit, but longer.

I was born on Reed St, Hill District, 91 years ago. The transformation from grimy, cobblestone streets to one of our most beautiful cities is a tribute to the people and leaders of Pittsburgh. I live in Deerfield Beach, Fl and have fond memories of younz folks back home. Thanks so much for these precious pictures. I would like to have seen a picture of Carnegie Museum (beside Warhol) and Schenley Park.

What art, thou hast given us! See not everyone from Pittsburgh uses slang...doncha' know. That's what i miss about Pittsburgh...the wonderful friendly conversations and humor from passersby as you look at the view, or you walk the bridges everyday to get to work, or standing in lines everywhere. Living in Naples, Florida for almost ten years, i like to say that 'Pittsburgh is a great city to be from'...and no one ever disagrees--even New Yorkers! My favorite view is from the middle of the West End Bridge. Does the 'pirogy patrol' still shush you away when you stop to take in that view? Loved the pictures of Pitt, too. 32 years of working daily in downtown...it all comes back when you look at your art.

I was born in Mon-City and my wife in Charleroi. We both live in New Jersey, since 1990, with our two daughters Laura and Rachel. Whenever I see pictures like these, it really makes me homesick 'cause you can take the boy out of the burgh but not the 'burgh out of the boy. Peoples Almanac had a right a few years back and I will not be content until my wife and I are back with all of yinz eatin' a hoagie or a chipped ham sammich...

My husband and kids and I were all born and raised in Pittsburgh. We all miss it. It was great seeing these photos of the Burgh. You know the saying that you always will find a Pittsburgher where ever you go, we just moved to Texas 2 years ago and we have run into all kinds of Pittsburghers. Like one person noted that you can take the person out of Pittsburgh, but not Pittsburgh out the person. What a great home town. Thank you so much for the memories and the photos.

Moved to Missouri in 1979. The countryside is allot like Pennsylvania, but nothing compares to the city of Pittsburgh. I grew up in Wilkinsburg. We come back quite often, at least every couple of years. It will always be home even though my family is gone from there. Thank you for sharing

I was born in McGee Hospital in 1929 and lived nearby for 21 years. Pittsburgh's steelmaking was the backbone of the war effort in the 40's. I can still remember the Bessemer furnaces lighting up the sky along the Mon. I can remember the coal soot from coal burning home furnaces as well as the dirt from the steelmills and foundries. Pittsburgh has truly had a renaissance and it is the jewel city in the East today. Congratulations to the movers and shakers that made it that way!

BEAUTIFUL PITTSBURGH. the only city where you can stand on the ground (Mt Washington, West End, Troy Hill, etc) and look down on its beautiful skyline. It was voted the second most beautiful view in the country (the Grand Canyon being #1)
I've lived in Pittsburgh all of my life and there is no other city like it. I have travelled to many major cities around the world. After much consideration, I've decided that the only other place that I would live, would be Paris:)
I'm just so in love with Pittsburgh because its true beauty is in the PEOPLE that live here (and that were born here for you out-of-towners) Pittsburgh has a long history of producing people that are proud, hard-working, and loyal. Our forefathers built this city with their blood, sweat, and tears, and I'm proud to call it home.
Remember, we are the FRIENDLY city and I well anyone to come and visit/live with us.

Sometimes those of us lucky enough to live and work in Pittsburgh need to be reminded just how beautiful our city is!
Thank you for so great a refreshment of our heritage.

What's not to love about P-burgh; is the circular theater (Civic Center?) still there with the roof that opens? I saw Frank Sinatra and Buddy Rich's orchestra kill that place with my first true love. We moved in 1968, but when people ask me, "where'd you grow up?", I'm proud to say Pittsburgh and see the stange question mark appear on their faces.
I wish the people in the pics could talk, I really miss hearing the unique and wonderful Pgh accent!

I have been away from the Pittsburgh area since 1958 and Pittsburgh was absolutely nothing like it is today. It was smokey and really nothing pretty about it. I worked there from 1954 to 1956 and just wanted to get in and out of the city. Now that I see this city that has done a complete turn-around, it really makes me so very homesick. I want to visit the city and see everything, including the tour up and down the river, seeing the new stadium, going up on the Tram and looking down on the most beautiful city I have ever seen in our travels around the country. Thank you, thank you for sharing such beauty with us. I will send this to all my e-mail family and friends.

I am sitting here crying because I am so homesick. It truly is a wonderful city and I miss her so much. Everything everyone has said about her has kept me crying, just to know that our city is so loved and appreciated. pgh people are the best people anywhere. It was so great having my little favorite places to go like waldorf's bakery in squirrel hill, mineo's pizza and the great corned beef sandwiches there not to mention the strip and wonderful phipps. what great places to cherish in my mind.

My parents dragged me kicking and screaming to live in Los Angeles in 1955. 'Have lived near San Francisco for 41 years and love it here in northern California, but Pittsburgh is still home. I have two uncles and many cousins still living in the 'burgh and get back to see them every chance my husband and I get. We had tickets to fly to Pittsburgh the morning of Sept. 11, 2001 and ended up driving back for a wedding in Shadyside. There's no city like Pittsburgh and no people like Pittsburghers. Congratulations on a beautiful portfolio of incredible photographs.

I was born & raised in Pittsburgh, but moved to Florida in 1976 for work. Pgh is so beautiful & unique. Looking at your wonderful photos, I feel homesick. Like so many others have said; Once a Pittsburgher -- always a Pittsburgher and of course - ALWAYS A STEELER FAN. (I was so said when they tore down Three Rivers Stadium - many great memories there!) Thanks so much & keep up the great work!!! You are very talented - you captured the essence of our great hometown!

Although I'm now living in Huntington Beach, CA, every year I came back to the burg - to visit my parents and friends. What memories I have left behind. Nothing can replace the green, green grass of summer and people who will remain your friends until the end of time. Great job on the photos.

Isn't it funny how Western (Pittsburgh) PA people never get that out of their blood. I live in Medford Oregon and we have a beautiful skyline ha ha (all mountains). I will always love Pittsburgh. I am visiting again this September. I come back almost every year. I have a brother-in-law in Greensburg he's originally from Florida but to hear him talk he is from Pittsburgh. He works there. Thanks for the pics they are great

Do you sell prints? I'd like a 16x20 print of the "Classic View" and "The Point fron the Duquene Incline"

Thanks to my cousin who keeps me up to date with fantastic photos from "the Burg." My husband and I have been living in California since 1961 but we remain Steeler fans and always love to go downtown on our visits back "home." I worked downtown for Pennsylvania Bell from 1956 to 1961--it was a glorious time.

Fantastic shots. I live in Rome now, am from Philadelphia and my mom and all her family are from the Burgh! I've been visitning my family in Pittsburgh a couple times a year since 1969 and love it! I rooted for the Steelers and Bucs for 10 years before I was old enough to realize I was supposed to root for my Iggles and Phils - I still love both city's teams and it's very rarely an issue! See ynz at PNC next summer.

I love my hometown....I am a hop, skip, and a jump across the state now, but come home as often as possible...there is nothing better than coming around that last bend on the parkway and having dahntahn lite up in front of your eyes! I have to watch not to wreck the car as I take in all the lights and sights as I take the crosstown bridge over toward 279 (I do it so automatically, I don't know if I got the route # right). Til I left Pgh 30+ years ago, I thought all people talked to everyone wherever you happened to be, street car stop, deli counter, walking down the street....Hey, how did I know the rest of the world wasn't Pittsburgh friendly!!?? Love it, the pixs are great!

Wow! I left the burgh in 67' and have never gotten over it. If these pics don't make a person homesick nothing will! My family is deceased but, I still make it back for visits with friends and to see the "best place in the world"! And, I love and support all of the burgh teams!

I was born in Pittsburgh in 1937 and watched Pittsburgh build the Alcoa Dome and Alcoa Building, Mellon Square, Point, Station Sq. and many other other wonders. The beauty of Pgh. is the merging of the old with the new so that Pgh. could keep it's personality. I think that the photos presented here capture all of this. I moved to Californa in the 60's but I manage to return to"HOME " once a year and always have my radio tuned to WJAS and CHILLY BILLY. When you are born and grow up in Pgh, Pgh is always in your heart.
When people ask me what Pgh is like, I tell them it's a "Litte big CITY with a very BIG heart." Again thank "YOUZE" for Letting me share Pgh with YOUZE. Fred ( Chubby) Bergamasco in Palm Springs Calif.

Pittsburgh is the Heart of Home as both my husband and I moved to CA in 65 and then Oregon in 95 where we retired. We still have family in the Burg and I plan on visiting them sometime soon. My daddy and I walked thru the rubble when Ft Pitt was torn down to make way for the point as we gathered rocks along the area as we were building a home back then. Daddy worked in the J&L steel mill on the South Side from when he was 12 and the streets were always covered with this red dust but in spite of it all, the love and friendlyness of the people was always there and still is. South Park, Kennywood, the County Fairs all still exist and remain within my heart along with the walks across the bridges in the bitter cold of winter and the breezes of summer. The floods, water sking the rivers and watching out for the barges when you fell and all the changes show the growth of the city and the love which always remains in the friendly people and their hearts. There was never any racial tensions like CA had as everyone in the burg were people and equals. The HEART OF PITTSBURGH IS ITS PEOPLE! This beauty comes through the photos.

This site was forwarded to me by a family member and after viewing them I wished that I was back in Pittsburgh. California does (used to have) have nice weather year round but the PA scenery cannot be beat. I guess I will never be able to forget where I was born and raised. Since leaving home in 1957 to enter the service, I have been to Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, the Philipines and 40 of the 50 states and the mind keeps playing those days in PA. I really appreciate those of you with cameras for keeping PA in my heart. Thanks.

A friend of mine from Duquesne forwarded this to me. She is also a transplanted Pittsburgher here in Houston TX. I know everyone is sick of the snow by now but I will forever miss it. If my daughters were not here I would have been back home by now. I am from Liberty Boro and the saying there is you can take the girl out of the boro but you can't take the boro out of the girl. Same with the burgh. My heart belongs to Pittsburgh and always will.
