I liked the Arch, Mt. Washington, & Snowy Pittsburgh’s North Side… and maybe even the fisheye of P.J. McArdle’s roadway.
These are some interesting pics… very nicely done

Your photos are amazing! I’m close to graduating and going back home, these albums always help me remember what I’m working towards…to be back in my favorite place in the whole world. Thank you and keep up the great work.

The South Side Slopes is my favorite. I think the scenery in many of Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods can be just as dramatic as the views of the downtown skyline. It’s all quite spectacular.

  6. Dick Howe wrote:

Great Photography! Enjoyed every one. Photography was once my hobby. Lived in Greensburg for 35 years. Worked out of an office in Allison Park for several years. I now live in Texas, and I am a Dallas fan, unless they are playing the Steelers.

  7. khalid wrote:

great pics , lots of good memo’s make my eyes water.

  8. Joyce wrote:

All the pictures are great, but I love the South Side Hill in the snow. Reminds me of climbing a similar one as a child going to visit my grandma. Always thought that people who live on those hillsides are a special breed, tough and hard working and would help anyone, anytime. God, how I miss Pittsburgh! It’s nice where I live now, but it just can’t compare with da burgh.

  9. David Hammond wrote:

I was at the same game. Sure enjoy you pics.

My roots are in Pittsburgh and though I’ve been gone for 40 plus years there’s still part of my heart in the city. I always get a rush of nostalgia when I see pictures of the old hometown, it is a special and unique place. the photos capture the essence of its beauty but the culture has to be experienced. Natives evem find it hard to put into words. These phots are some of the most enjoyable I have seen. Sure appreciate the quality work.

I’ve lived here 54 years. I have had relatives leave the city and move back. I still have those who would love to move back. Pittsburgh is as close as you can get to a city of pride, courtesy, community and advancement. Our shyline is the best!! Just drive in from the airport through the Fort Pitt tunnels and you can see for yourself. I love Pittsburgh and am proud to live in the “burgh”!

As an Air Force brat, I’ve lived all over the country. Never thought I would fall in love with a city, but Pittsburgh stole my heart. Lived in Oakland for 7 years before returning to Texas. I miss ‘the ‘Burgh’ & your pictures make me feel like I’m right there again. Thanks!

  35. Jimmy wrote:

Will be coming back tomorrow for the backyard brawl. After nearly thirty years, I still miss the “burgh”! Always thought someday I would return. It isn’t likely but these pictures always bring back great feelings and memories. The series is great. Do some more of the neighborhoods, too. Oakland, Shadyside, Bloomfield, Squirrel Hill, Polish Hill, etc.

Like those who have commented, being away many years (I left for college after high school in ’64) these pics are beautiful to see and the enjoyable memories they bring. I’ve lived in Colorado for the last 40 years and though it’s been my home for all those years, getting back to visit this past August brought many pleasant memories and new experiences. I’ll always be a Pittsburgher. These hi-res photos are awesome.

Am a long time resident of the burgh & have absolutely no idea of where the arch is located! From shot, it must be some where on south side of the Mon River – but where???? Loved the fisheye one, the black & white of downtown buildings (so glad the insidiously omnipresent UPMC sign’s not in that one), and the snowy Southside slopes! Enjoyed these very much!

  52. Nancy Megyesy wrote:

I love these pictures. My husband and I lived in Little Washington all our lives and made many trips to Pittsburgh, do miss it. These photos make me almost homesick. Except for the rain and snow. We are now and have been in Arizona for 25 years. Worked at Brockway Glass until it closed down. Keep up the good work of taking the pictures of Pittsburgh.

To anyone wondering where that picture of the arch is from. I believe it was taken on the North Shore between the 6th and 7th Street Bridges. I used to live about a block from there and walked across those bridges many times.
