Pittsburgh Steelers Superbowl Celebration - February 2006

The Saturday night before the superbowl, at 8PM, my girlfriend (now wife) and I decided that it would be a good idea to drive back to my hometown (Washington, PA, about 25 miles south of Pittsburgh) from Raleigh, NC to watch the game on Sunday, and if we won, go into Pittsburgh to experience the celebration. Once we heard the parade was on Tuesday, I couldn’t pass up the chance to attend.

It was a very cold morning in the Burgh, with flashes of blue sky along with snow flurries.

The city was out in full force to celebrate our Steelers.

Wow.! What a trip. Not a native but worked for Dravo Corp. and lived there four different times. Retired in North Carolina. Been to all fifty states and ten countries; nothing compares. Just went out and found a six pack of “Iron City”. Gona drink and review this again. Thanks, Matt Robinson for a trip home. Tom Edelen

Wow, incredible pics. I moved from PA in 1979 and have went back several times to visit family. I flew back for the superbowl and as anyone knows ain’t nothing like a Steeler fan. My husband is a photographer and really appreciates good photos. I have a room in my house that is totally devoted to the Steelers. I still have my original terrible towel. Thanks so much for the wonderful pics. Really miss the beautiful city of Pittsburgh. Living in Illinois when I talk people still know where I originated from, Pittsburgh.

You made me smile! thanks again,
    Cathy Best

"Pittsburgh Pieces" for June 2006 - These photos were taken during a week I was home in June. I went to a couple Pirate games, and took a flight over the city (again), and photographed plenty of other subjects.
My brother and I went up to the West End Overlook to photograph the sunset. Instead, storms moved in just east of the city and provided spectacular results.

This is an impromptu set of scenes from the Steelers Super Bowl Parade and the post-Superbowl celebration in the city. Not wanting to miss the atmosphere back home for the Superbowl, I made a last minute trip up to southwestern PA the night before the game.
